Zhilin Yang

Born 1992. BS from Tsinghua; PhD from CMU under Ruslan Salakhutdinov and William Cohen. Co-authored the original GLM paper (ACL 2022), Transformer-XL, and XLNet. Interned at Google Brain and Meta. Led development of the Wu Dao LLM at BAAI (2021). Co-founded Moonshot AI in March 2023 with Tsinghua alumni who were his bandmates in "Splay" (a rock band named after the splay tree). Launched Kimi, the first assistant supporting 200K Chinese characters.
