Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician (the highest engineering honor in China), IEEE Fellow, and ACM Fellow. Founded Pengcheng Laboratory in 2018 and built the Pengcheng Cloud Brain supercomputing infrastructure (Cloud Brain II: 1,000 PFLOPS on Huawei Ascend; Cloud Brain III targeting 16 EFLOPS). Boya Chair Professor at Peking University.

Pioneered audio-video coding standards in China: founded the AVS (Audio Video Standard) workgroup in 2002, chairs AVS and IEEE 1857. Two PhDs: Harbin Institute of Technology (1988) and University of Tokyo (1991). ~75,700 citations, 1,100+ papers. Wu Wenjun AI Highest Achievement Award (2023), National Technology Innovation Award First Class (2020), IEEE Innovation in Societal Infrastructure Award (2025).
