Muse Code

Meta Superintelligence Labs' first terminal coding agent, released in beta on August 5, 2026 alongside the Muse Spark 1.2 model that powers it. Muse Code is Meta's entry into the agentic-coding-tool race against Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex: it plans changes, writes and edits code, validates its own work, and coordinates persistent background agents that stay active across a session, fanning out to parallel sub-agents in isolated git worktrees to work a large repository simultaneously.

A local event log records every model call, tool use, approval, and edit, so a session can resume after a crash. Distributed as a native binary via a one-line shell installer on macOS and Linux. Powered by Muse Spark 1.2 (Terminal-Bench 2.1 82.9%), billed pay-as-you-go at $1.25 / $4.25 per 1M input/output tokens, with a feedback-gated Contributor Tier at $0.10 / $0.20 that trades usage data for a ~12× discount — a pricing model that has drawn scrutiny over training-data use.

Proprietary and closed-source as of the beta; Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said only that he would "have more to share soon" on whether the Muse line would open. Part of Meta's push under MSL (led by Alexandr Wang) — three models in four months — to compete at the frontier.
